Our Values

At The Royal Kent Church of England Primary School  we pride ourselves on our welcoming Christian ethos, founded on the teachings of Jesus.  We recognise the multi-cultural, multi faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom and we are dedicated to preparing children to participate fully and contribute positively to life in modern Britain. Our school motto is ‘learning for life’!

Christian Values

Christian values and beliefs permeate everyday life and underpin the life of our school. These values are:

  • Reverence
  • Wisdom
  • Thankfulness
  • Humility
  • Endurance
  • Service
  • Compassion
  • Trust
  • Peace
  • Forgiveness
  • Friendship
  • Hope
  • Justice
  • Creation
  • Koinonia

You can read more about our promotion of these values here.

We believe that our school's ethos, vision and values promote those values identified by the Department for Education (2014), known as 'British' values.

British Values

The Department for Education introduced a statutory duty for schools to promote British Values more actively from September 2014. The definition of British Values was set out by the government in the 2011 Prevent Strategy.

The British Values, as defined by the Department for Education, are:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

The term ‘British values’ might be slightly misleading in that these values are integral to so many countries throughout the world.
