We believe that our school's ethos, vision and values promote those values identified by the Department for Education (2014), known as 'British' values.
The Department for Education introduced a statutory duty for schools to promote British Values more actively from September 2014. The definition of British Values was set out by the government in the 2011 Prevent Strategy.
The British Values, as defined by the Department for Education, are:
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
The term ‘British values’ might be slightly misleading in that these values are integral to so many countries throughout the world.
